Being Pretty = Lucky Life

You're lucky to be pretty because it makes life easy. Jobs, attention, free stuff. Great things happen for you because you're pretty. Yes, someone actually said that to me! Are you kidding me? Do many people actually believe ridiculous things of this nature? I personally took offense to the statement. It borderline sounded as if I have no desirable skills or couldn't get anything in life based on intelligence. I'm not saying these things never happen. Some people do judge by looks but to take an instance and apply that to every person you think is attractive is far fetched. Think about it.

If a company hires attractive people who are not qualified to perform the duties required, that company will flop! But hey, it'll have a nice company photo for newspaper headline. Aside from the modeling/entertainment industry, I've never seen any job search requesting a photo be submitted with an application. My resume got me in the door for my previous jobs. When I worked at an environmental chemistry lab, I did not get hired because they felt I was pretty. I can see the headlines: "Local chem lab explodes due to hiring based on looks".

Also, everyone's perception of beauty is different. Not everyone will think I am pretty. Everything in life is not handed to me on a sugar coated lollipop because some people think I'm pretty. I've been through many struggles and worked hard to make it day by day just like everyone else. The jobs I've had were based on my  qualifications, the attention I get is often because I'm outgoing and perks come from networking. Plus we're talking about lip gloss, shirts, etc, that's part of the industry I'm in. It's not like I was handed a car! If it were that easy then I would book every modeling job I go after and that is not the case. Or I could sit around doing nothing and never worry about another bill. Seriously.
